Bamboo Eco Resort & Spa (“Bamboo”), poised for development in St. Mary, Jamaica, is an innovative resort project planned to consist of a boutique hotel and a small number of private residential villas. The development will be unique in its distinct concept that captures the authentic Jamaican spirit and features a design plan rooted in organic architecture by Eric Lloyd Wright, grandson of renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. With bamboo as the primary building material, this ecologically sustainable resort will be integrated into the lush tropical landscape along the proposed site's dramatic coastline. Drawing from the inherent natural beauty of the region and a complementary built environment, Bamboo will offer an experience that is uniquely Jamaican. Beyond the hotel and private villas, the resort will have a modern Wellness Spa facility, restaurants featuring organic and locally influenced menus, and eco adventure activities. One of Bamboo Eco Resort's most unique characteristics is the One Love Music Village being developed in partnership with the Bob Marley Family and Tuff Gong International. The Music Village will feature a solar-powered soundstage, school of music and a state-of-the-art recording studio designed to cater to Jamaican and international recording artists.
The 542-acre site is situated in the center of a several mile stretch of undeveloped land and is a part of the only remaining coastal tropical forest along the island's north coast. Significant development along Jamaica's north coast has left only limited areas of unspoiled land and few beaches with the raw natural beauty that is found and will be preserved here. The master plan for Bamboo Eco Resort & Spa conserves the majority of the property and embraces the natural features of the Foster's Cove site while establishing a sense of place that at once provides exclusive privacy, as well as a sense of community. A harmonious integration with the natural landscape is established through an organic design philosophy that considers thoughtful placement of accommodations, resort buildings, and infrastructure components.
